The City of Derby Celebrates Topping Out at Decarsky

The City of Derby reached an exciting milestone this morning with a topping out ceremony at Decarsky Park Phase II. City leadership, staff, and project partners gathered to witness the placement of the final steel beam—a tradition symbolizing strength, progress, and partnership.

Six months after dirt first began moving on site, the project has already become a visible landmark of growth in Derby. With 11 months to go until completion, the topping out represents both how far the project has come and the momentum driving it forward.

Guests signed the beam, painted green for the occasion, before it was raised into place. Brief remarks highlighted the importance of the project for Derby’s growing community and its role in continuing to make Decarsky Park a premier destination for sports and recreation.

This milestone was made possible thanks to the strong collaboration between the City of Derby, PEC, Gravity::Works Architecture, and Dondlinger Construction. Together, the team is delivering facilities that will serve athletes, families, and visitors for years to come.
