USD 490 Blackmore Elementary School

El Dorado, Kansas

To find efficiencies, USD 490 reviewed its existing neighborhood elementary centers and with help from the community-based advisory committee determined that five centers should become three. The new Blackmore Elementary replaced two schools and was built on existing district property adjacent to one of those schools. During construction, students remained in their old school with minimal disruption to their environment. The layout is organized by grade level with extended learning areas for common use.

New on existing elementary site:

  • 3 sections per grade level
  • 480 student capacity
  • Storm shelter
