BG Veterans Stadium

El Dorado, Kansas

The BG Veterans Stadium is the fruition of significant community support and the collaboration of three public entities: the City of El Dorado, Butler Community College, and El Dorado Public Schools USD 490. These entities joined with the private sector of the community to create the Educational Facilities Authority of Butler County. The consortium pooled resources and efforts to build and co-own the new stadium facility that is used by all teams that play football or track in El Dorado, ranging from Little League all the way up to championship-level play at BCC.

Gravity::Works joined the effort at the very beginning. Through four years of community studies and feasibility analysis, G::W helped the consortium with site analysis, cost analysis and program analysis. We also assisted with fundraising initiatives, offering 3D walkthrough drawings and identifying appropriate naming opportunities within the complex.

The new facility is located on a former golf course in the core area of the community as the site offered a well-established landscape to insert a new football and track facility. Features include a two-level skybox/press-box structure that hovers over the berm-style, top-loading seating. Spacious pedestrian terraces connect two restrooms and concession buildings and offer multiple viewing options. The skybox/press box houses 10 skybox suites on the first level, and game-day press boxes and suites for officials, coaches and the media on the second. A large video scoreboard projects instant replays and game highlights. The turf field, marked for football and soccer, is surrounded by a NCAA-Certified, eight-lane track. All field events are dispersed among the existing landscape of the former golf course.
