With a shortage of meeting spaces for the community and students, the BCC administration and Butler Foundation were determined to give back to students a union space that had been taken over by increased office needs.
Today, the Butler Community College Hubbard Welcome Center is a crowning jewel for the college and community. It is located at the entry to the main campus along Haverhill Road.
This 35,000-square-foot building stands two stories tall and includes open, public spaces for new and visiting students and parents, large community meeting rooms, and banquet spaces. It houses the executive offices of the president of the College, Board of Trustees and the Butler Foundation.
Exterior materials include pre-cast concrete panels in a buff earth tone with brick to match the existing campus aesthetic and aluminum storefront glass at entrances and in major window areas. The interior features stained-concrete and carpeted floors, vaulted and painted ceilings, and ceramic-tile accents.
