There’s something special about getting to help breathe new life into a historic building, especially one in our own downtown.
Gravity::Works is proud to be working with Frontier Development on the redevelopment of El Dorado’s historic Masonic Lodge. The upper floors will be transformed into apartments, while the first floor will remain commercial space, creating new opportunities for people to live, work, and invest downtown.
Recently, we joined project partners as the Kansas Historical Society formally presented a grant award to Frontier Development in support of the project. It was a great opportunity to recognize one of the many pieces helping make this redevelopment possible and to show the community that historic preservation is in progress.
We also know that projects like this are built on years of work by people who believed in a building’s potential long before construction began. Emily Connell, former El Dorado Main Street Director, spent decades advocating for this property and working toward its redevelopment, and we’re grateful for the groundwork she helped establish. El Dorado Main Street continues to be an important partner as the project moves forward.
Behind the scenes, our team and Engineering Consultants, P.A., have been working through the unique challenges that come with adapting a historic structure for a new use. Their considerable efforts on the structural scope have been an important part of getting the building ready for its next chapter.
There’s still an opportunity to be part of what’s happening: the first-floor commercial space is currently available. If your business is interested in a distinctive location in the heart of downtown El Dorado, reach out to our team to learn more.
For now, we’re excited to see years of planning turn into visible progress, and we’ll be sharing more of this building’s story along the way.
