Designing for Community Impact: Decarsky Park Phase II
Designing for Community Impact: Gravity::Works Architecture’s Role in Decarsky Park Phase II
At Gravity::Works Architecture, we believe that thoughtful design can transform public spaces into vibrant community assets. We’re proud to partner with the City of Derby, Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC), and Dondlinger Construction on Phase II of Decarsky Park—a project that enhances Derby’s reputation as a regional sports destination.
A Vision for Growth and Inclusion
Phase II of Decarsky Park is a $18.5 million expansion that builds upon the success of its first phase. The new development includes four additional ball fields, four batting cages, a warm-up field, an adaptive playground, and expanded parking. These additions are designed to accommodate a growing number of athletes and visitors, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic environment for sports and recreation.
A State-of-the-Art Concession Building
Central to our architectural contribution is the design of a two-story, state-of-the-art concession building. This facility will house offices for the Derby Recreation Commission staff, restrooms, storage space, and a concession area. The building is thoughtfully designed to complement the park’s aesthetics and serve the functional needs of teams and visitors alike.
Collaborative Efforts for Community Enhancement
Our collaboration with PEC and Dondlinger Construction exemplifies the power of teamwork in bringing community projects to fruition. PEC’s engineering expertise and Dondlinger’s construction proficiency have been instrumental in translating our architectural vision into reality. Together, we aim to create a space that not only meets the current needs of Derby’s residents but also anticipates future growth and community engagement.
Looking Ahead
As construction progresses, we remain committed to delivering a facility that embodies the spirit of Derby—welcoming, active, and forward-thinking. We look forward to seeing Decarsky Park Phase II come to life and to the positive impact it will have on the community.
